"As a child I had experienced my own personal struggle
with poverty, and I honesty believe that the Lord allowed it so He
could give me this vision of the City of Hope to help those in a similar
situation.
I remember praying to God for His blessing so that one day I could
realize this dream, and truly believe with all my heart that He heard
my prayer, He bestowed upon me His grace, gifting me with great amount
of talent to play the game of baseball. Through this faith and trust
in Him a window of opportunity was open for me to fulfill this dream
of the city hope for under privilege children, thus bringing hope
to the hopeless.
During my baseball career, almost a lifetime, basically speaking I
have dedicated myself to fight for the struggle of those that cannot
fight for themselves. I cherished the idea of seeing the needy children
from all walks of life free from the bondage of misery, which has
oppressed us for so many years; a society in which all persons live
together in harmony, with equal rights and opportunities.
As human beings we have been placed here for a particular reason,
a purpose if you will, but once you have found it; must be willing
to be expended. In other word, once you have found the cause you live
for, if needs be, one must be willing to die.
I know that as long as we live in this falling world, we’ll continue
to see or have poverty around us, but if we all do our part by helping
those less fortunate than us; we could have less misery among us.
If we stay the course, the unthinkable might happen, yes, together
we can bring hope to the hopeless, just be faithful to the vision
giving to you by God and He will find a way to bring it to pass."
Sincerely,
Tony Fernandez,
a servant of the lord Jesus Christ
